IE9 - problem trying to download files

I have been running IE9 under W7 Home Premium. When trying to download files, the only option offered to me has been: All Files (*.*)

I uninstalled IE9 and now find that under IE8 I can download PDF's as PDF's etc.

Any suggestions on how to get IE9 to be able to do the same as far as downloads?

    Thanks,
    Dick

Never mind. After running a day with IE8 and taking an image of my system in case I wanted to go back to IE8, I reinstalled IE9. Downloads work fine now. Don't ask me why, but they at least work again.

The IE 9 installation must have been corrupted somehow. Who knows??? Glad it's working now Dick.
