Question Default program to view animated gif files

Trying to get used to Windows7 and have yet another agrevation. Which program should open the "preview" tab available with a right click on an animated gif.. and how / where do I change that setting.
I can "open with" and select a program that works for me so that clicking on the *.gif will show it in its animation.. But the preview selection should do that as well.. no? Now the preview opens "Windows Photo Viewer".. which I am sure is a fine program but what did MS leave for me in Windows7.

    Thanks for your time
    Ralph

Hi Ralph, if you left click a gif file it should open with IE regardless of default browser setting.

Thanks.. I have my GIF's (and all pictures) to open with ACDSee. But... as there is a preview tab (with a right click) why can I not have MS provide the correct program. If MS has IE as the default program to preview a GIF then where is that setting. The "Open With" selection allows one to set a default program.. but it does not (evidently) set the "preview" selection.

Right.. I get that as well (along with a half dozen others) but when I click "Preview" it opens in "Windows Photo Viewer". If.. I select as my default program IE then that works.. but it STILL opens in the Windows Photo Viewer from preview.

Another but longer method is to send them to yourself in the body of an email.

Lots of alternate solutions.. I just want my "preview" to work.

Thanks Bruce. That program looks like it will make the required changes. I am surprised that MS does not include this ability in its Windows7 short of hacking the registry itself.

Agreed. They leave out some very strange things.
