    Updating Windows Live Mail

I've read elsewhere on the Forum that WLM 2012 is an improvement over older versions.
I'm currently using WLM 2011 and would be grateful for any advice/tips on updating to the latest version.
Particularly, is it best to uninstall the older version and is it easy to retain emails, contacts and calendar.
Thanks in advance for any help.

I've typically uninstalled prior versions before upgrading to a newer one.

You could export everything to a secure location, then import everything back once you get the updated client installed.
If your WLM email client is associated with a MS account that will make it much easier to sync afterward too. But I would
still export all the same, especially if you have added folders and subfolder of stored email content.

Invest a little time and energy in a well thought out BACKUP regimen and you will have minimal down time, and headache.

Build your own system; get everything you want and nothing you don't.
    Latest Build:
    ASUS X99 Deluxe, Core i7-5960X, Corsair Hydro H100i, Plextor M6e 256GB M.2 SSD, Corsair DOMINATOR Platinum 32GB DDR4@2666, W8.1 64 bit,
EVGA GTX980, Seasonic PLATINUM-1000W PSU, MountainMods U2-UFO Case, and 7 other internal drives.

Thanks for that; does it mean when you export mail, the folders are retained and look the same when imported back to the new WLM installation?
Similarly, are contacts maintained "as is"?

What was the process for 'Upgrading', as I cant see any update feature on WLM.
Did you just run the downloaded Windows Essentials installer?

You may be able to upgrade install over the older build without have to uninstall your current version.
It's worth attempting, but export everything all the same in the event of any potential issues.
