    Delete folder

Using w-7 Home Premium Question? When deleting an item from the in box to the delete folder how long should it take system to remove item from delete folder permanently so that it can not be recovered? 10 days, 2 weeks, 3 weeks and are there controls to change that action? I thank anyone with a response and information ahead of time.
    Phil.

    Hi,

Is this a question about an email client? If so, the deleted items folder usually won't be emptied by default. You will need to explicitly empty it. You can do it immediately, if you so chose. Depending on the email client in use, you can even configure it to empty the delete folders item when you close the app.

Hi Ruirub thanks for the reply I am not sure what you mean in regards to an email client. I am talking about my own email account which all of a sudden is not deleting emails from the deleted folder as it use to do I now have emails from over a month ago still in it and I delete them and wait a while and go to recover emails and they all come back the same goes for emptying the folder before it used to dump stuff periodically by itself. Am I making myself clear?

There should be an option to change the time frame to delete these emails. In my email client (WLM) after I delete an email, it is moved to the deleted folder. I then simply click on the x next to the deleted folder and a pop up asks if I wish to permanently delete all messages.

This is a safety feature. At times some of us accidently delete emails we did not want to delete. This allows us to resurrect the deleted email.

In WLM, Options, Mail, Advanced, Maintenance I can choose to delete items in the Deleted folder upon Exit.

I use hot mail and have never had to do anything like that I just used to delete an email to the delete folder and after a period of time it would just delete itself after about 10 days or so and keep the most recent stuff.

I never used Hotmail that much and now, with the hotmail accounts I use, I use the new outlook.com interface. To delete the unwanted messages in the deleted folder, all you need to do is right click delete and be done with it.

Hotmail and most other web mail will automatically remove items from your Deleted folder. See http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/w...0-093c71ba36b0 for comments about Outlook.com.
