Upgrading to Office XP on new computer (XP)
I just received a newer computer that came with Windows ME and Word 2000. My old computer has Office 97 installed. I would like to upgrade to Office XP and put it on the new computer. The problem is, I can't for the life of me find the original disk I used to install Office on the old computer. If I buy the upgrade version of Office XP and try to install it on the new computer, it's going to tell me it can't find a qualifying upgrade product.
What's the best way to get around this? Do I need to install the hard drive from my old computer in the new one? Is a file or two I can just copy over to make it simple? Any suggestions appreciated.

You will need to FIND your Office 97 CD. If the 97 Version came with your old computer, the software may be on a OEM CD.
Now running HP Pavilion a6528p, with Win7 64 Bit OS.
