    Susan Bradley-KB931125

Reference, as noted in the latest WS newsletter, "The root-cert conundrum":
On an XP system install KB 931125 (rootsupd.exe) .

I ran the KB931125 update from
    http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/downl....aspx?id=29434
    http://tinyurl.com/82stn8c

However, I am unable to confirm that the update is successful because I find no reference to it.
    How can it be confirmed?

If using Windows 7, try start orb > Control Panel > programs and features > view installed updates. should work in Vista as well.
You could also look in Windows Update > View Update History

Appreciate your effort, however, it's "On an XP system". It's a "Windows Update for Root Certificates For Windows XP", not related to Vista, 7, or 8.

When I wrote "I find no reference to it" that includes the Control Panel/Add or Remove Programs/Show updates and Microsoft Updates/Review your update history.

    Open Windows Explorer.
    Navigate to C:\WINDOWS.
Look for a directory named $NtUninstallKB931125$

    Appreciate your effort.

I looked in all the obvious places, such as: the path you described and in C:\Windows\$hf_mig$.

"I find no reference to it".

Relevant info: "for the particular rootsupd.exe (KB931125) you downloaded, it would update the registry to show this version:
    VERSION='36,0,2195,0' which it refers to as 'Version 36' ", in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Active Setup\Installed Components\{EF289A85-8E57-408d-BE47-73B55609861A}

My conclusion: "I find no reference to it"(the update) in all of the common areas where an update would normally be noted because the registry is the only place it exists. So, it is not easy to confirm an update to roots certificates, such as KB931125. In fact, from what I see, without knowing the proper registry version value it is not possible to confirm it.
