" and @ swapped on keyboard

Hi - I have installed win 8 about a week ago and so far I think its pretty good - I have woody's book for Dummies and its certainly a help but I have an issue which the fix i used in Win 7 doesn't seem to work for and which isn't covered in the book (so far as i can see) - i have the kindle version which I don't find is so good for reference books as its difficult to jump around in the book and there's no search option.

That is that the " key and the @ key are swapped around - I use a UK layout Keyboard and in wondows 7 it was pruely a matter of making sure that was specified in the set up but in Win 8 i have it specified in the same way but the keys are still swapped - anyone any ideas on how to sort it out.

    Thanks in advance

Which keyboard layout is shown as selected at Control Panel, Language? (It sounds like US, not UK.)

You can add and remove keyboard layouts by clicking Options there and then add or remove an input method.

Hi BruceR, Agree it sounds like the US keyboard is selected but its the UK version - I have also tried the Australian version and that gives the same result @ and " swapped. Thanks for your suggestion but that ain't it! Bob t

Have you also verified that you have the right "Region" settings for all users?

I believe a reboot is also needed too [?]

I actually have 2 dual boot machines. I just switched keyboards and confirmed the problem is machine specific not keyboard specific. I have 32 and 64 bit OS. It is the 64 bit which is giving the problem. Is it possible that this is the cause.
Both my keyboards are logitech but diff models.
