    Underline Text

I have a 2x10 box inserted in a word document to provide for signatures and dates. What I would like to do is provide a line for each date, but type the date in myself. The line must be longer than the date itself, but I don't want to use borders. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

So you want a line in the document but you don't want to use borders to put the line in??

Typically, I would do this by using a table cell and putting a bottom border on the table cell. If you don't use borders then you could use a floating graphic but I don't think it will be as slick as using a cell border. Another alternative is to use a tab leader but that won't work if you type on the same line.

What I was looking for in a solution is much like you see in fill-in forms in pdf format. Any ideas?

Either form fields or content controls will work similarly to pdf forms.

We use tabs with underline, but remember that in a table cell, you'll have to use CTRL-Tab so you don't get another table row

Set a right tab almost at the end of your box
Set the underline and type in your date (your date should be underlined)
    Hit CTRL-TAB
If the tab is not underlined, then highlight the tabbed space and set it to underline
Do NOT backtrack, or the underline may disappear.

Is that 2 columns by 10 rows? Will the signatures be inserted into the file, or will a hard copy be signed?

BTW, why don't you want to use borders?
