Consistent spacing between body text and footnote separator line
I am working with Word 2007 on Windows XP. We create very long double spaced documents with many, many footnotes. Is there a setting that you can select so that the space between the body text of the document and the footnote separator line is always 1 double space because depending on how long the footnote is, sometimes the space between the two things is 3 or more spaces. All help is appreciated.

I suspect that the problem is the widow and orphan control. If you turn it off, you'll get more consistent, but not absolutely consistent, space before the footnote separator.
