Obtaining a "SUM" or a "COUNT", "COUNTA" etc. on a filtered list

Is it possible to have a function like "SUM" or a "COUNT", "COUNTA" etc. on a filtered list and the results of these formulas only show what is filtered and not the total unfiltered listing.

    Thank you.

Yes - use the SUBTOTAL function.

I really never used a SUBTOTAL function before. How does it work?

and How do you incorporate the COUNT function with subtotal?

    For example:
    =Subtotal(9, range) is a SUM
=SUBTOTAL(2, range) is a COUNT and so on
