    You might want to try the following. You could use an IIF statement in a query that converts the data to a 1 if the field contains an "A" (i.e,. Like ("*A*")) else converts the data to a zero. You could then use the sum function in the query to see how obtain a count on the total data fields containing the "A". You could repeat this for not like A to get the count on those fields as well. This is one way to do this.

    Hope this helps.

    IIf([Table1]![aaa] Like ("*A*"),1,0)
