Office 2000 patches (2000 SR2)

After installing the 1a core update, I tried to install SP-2. I am prompted to insert my Office 2000 Small Business edition disc. I have 2000 Prof installed. Microsoft knowledge base says just put in the disc for the version of Office currently installed on machine. OK now what? I just keep getting a message that the DATA1.MSI file is the wrong version.

Unfortunately...
Remove and reinstall Office 2000 Pro and apply SR-1a and SP2 patches once again.

If that's the recommended solution, perhaps it wouldn't hurt to try the solution mentioned when you have a license conflict (see this post). MS has you delete the ProductID from the registry, which requires you to re-enter the Product Key from the CD jewelbox. Maybe that would straighten the system out on the version that is installed??

Of course, a search of the Knowledge Base probably is advisable as well. Before even.

Last but not least, do you really want SP2?
