Slow moving of files on same drive with W7
Just migrating to W7 from XP Pro.
Moving files from one folder to another in XP (and before) has been faster when the two folders are on the same drive, than when on different drives as the actual file on the disk does not move - only directory pointers get changed.
Now in W7 it takes a very long time on the same drive. Why?
I've noticed that the Address bar progressively changes colour from left to right when an image file is selected. The 'Refresh' double arrow icon at the right end of the Address bar, then changes to a 'Stop loading' cross icon.
This process appears to slow down the moving of files.
I've spend half an afternoon searching the internet on this topic and can't find anything.
Any suggestions as to how I can bring back the speed of moving files, please?
