Open Office and Libre Office crash on start-up

Running on a Windows 7 desktop with plenty of memory and no other problems. when we start Open Office 3.4.1 it crashes within seconds; on restart it will recover the first document and then crash again; usually on the third attempt it will work fine. (We tried Libre Office and found the same problem.)
The window offering to wait, close program, or close and report to Microsoft includes the following information when one clicks for more detail. Doe rthis mean anything to one of you, and has anyone fixed it?

I'm afraid I can't help you with your problem as I do not use that software and Google searches are throwing up 100's of results.

However, I recommend that you edit your post and remove your email address. Publishing your email address on a public forum is not a good idea as there are many bots that scan the internet looking for valid email addresses with the sole intention of using them as a valid spam addresses.

Crashing is often caused by an issue with the user profile. Try resetting it http://forum.openoffice.org/en/forum...p?f=74&t=12426. Also turn off the Update checker under Tools-->Options-->Online Update.
