    Control Panel Problem

Every time I open Control Panel it opens in category view. I want to open it in large icon view, so I change to that, but the next time I open it category view is shown again. How can I get it to open in large icon view permanently?

I have found no way to change this.

In my case I have Start8 or Classic Shell on our PCs and choose to have CP listed as a menu option.

I'm perplexed: I set CP to small icon view in Win 8 Pro RTM and it has stayed that way ever since, though reboots including those after disabling 'fast startup'.

I changed the setting (and always access CP) in desktop mode rather than in the Start screen (if you even have access to CP there): could that be the difference?

Its been reported both ways, sticking and never sticking; I'm with Medico, CP menu is better regardless unless one doesn't like alphabetical order north to south.

I have the Control Panel icon on my desktop and set for large icons in a good-sized window that will show all the icons without a scroll bar. It opens this way every time whether I use the desktop icon or open it from the Charms Bar.

On the other hand, Internet Explorer won't retain the windows size I set for it, opening in a smaller window each time.

I too have control panel set to open in large icon view on the taskbar and it remains when reopening CP.
On occasion if I open CP in an atypical way that I usually don't, I'll see the "category" view.
Try accessing it in the same manor every time and it should stick.
