    FileHippo: update checker

Have installed file hippo update checker. When I open this, I receive this message,
"Input string was not in a correct format." How do I rectify this?

Hi Dave, I prefer the portable version as the installed version doesn't function correctly on my system. Open yours manually then click the 'Settings' tab quickly and check it.

I would just uninstall and reinstall. The installed version works fine for me. I have used FileHippo for quite some time.

Go to Control Panel, Programs and Features, link on left Turn windows features on and off and check the Net Framework is installed. If not let MS install it.

This is what mine looks like in Win 8:

Hard to tell. You might try to expand the Net Framework. It does not appear you have it. You can also download Net Framework 2 here, then the SP2 update here.

It appears you do not have the Net Framework 2 on your PC. I would check out the manual downloads I linked.

    Thanks George.
Have attached my image which is more or less the same, just a few more entries.
Have been running Windows 7 Pro for a long time. Would I really need .NET framework 2 now?

If the app or site you wish to use requires Net Framework 2, then yes you would if you really want to use that app or site.
