IE9 randomly stops working, leaves blank screen

Wondering if anyone has seen this problem and might have a suggestion. I seem to be getting random instances (more often than I would like) of trying to go to a web page and getting an "Internet Explorer has stopped working" message box. All I'm left with is a completely blank Internet Explorer screen. The only way to get IE working again is to completely log out of Windows and log back in (or reboot). Just closing IE and reopening has no effect. And it's not consistent so it's not a bad web page or a bad link because after logging out and in, I can try the exact same procedure and it will work fine.

If you want to see the actual effects of the most recent case, here's a PDF of the sequence of screen shots. In this case, this one was via an email link (a trusted one).

It's not a serious problem, just a big nuisance!

Which version of Adobe Flash is installed? Flash Player 11.4.402.265 causes IE to crash

Try starting IE9 from System Tools, Internet Explorer (no Add-ons)

    Bruce,

    Adobe Flash Player is 11.5.502.35.
Next time it happens, I'll try opening IE9 from System Tools and see what happens.

    Bruce,

It just happened again so I tried your suggestion of opening IE9 from System Tools and it opened from there ... still wouldn't open normally. So wondering if maybe there's something in the Add Ins that could be the culprit. I've taken some screen grabs of the list of Add Ins and posted that as a PDF here. The only Add In that looked odd to me was the "IB Updater" (Bit Cocktail) so I Googled "IB Updater" and found references to "IncrediBar" which apparently is a toolbar by Perion - I do use IncrediMail (a Perion product) but don't see any tool bar like that on my computer. So then searched on "Bit Cocktail" and found this web site and I have a program called CyberLink MediaEspresso which came with my computer (I haven't figured out what it's good for) so presuming it has something to do with that. When I open MediaEspresso I get a popup box asking me to download an update so presuming that's the Updater. So don't know if I'm just looking at a red herring here or what.

What caused it this time was simply clicking on the Windows Secrets thread link in my email (from your response) and got the crash when IE tried to open from that link. As I said, the crash is not consistent so it's impossible to reproduce it to isolate the source.

Just cleaning up some old emails and noticed I never came back to this post. I have no idea what happened but not too long after the above posts, the problem disappeared. I've since moved up to IE 10 and have a couple of other small problems that I won't go into and I have a suspicion of where they came from. They're minor irritants and don't have time to bother to try to fix now.
