    Question Define location for bookmarks

    Hi,

I want for example to save all of my bookmarks on a plug-in USB drive.

Then I can plug the drive into another PC and have instant access to them.

    How can I do this?

    TIA.

    Bob

Use the approved method to move the Favorites to the Flash Drive. Now the location will always be on the Flash Drive. However simply plugging the Flash Drive into a different PC will not work because the new PC will not know where to look until you perform this same procedure there. Then when you remove the Flash Drive, the other PC will not know where to look for the Favorites until you reverse the process.

The Favorites on Win 7 is located in the C, user, "user name" folder You can just copy the Favorites folder to the Flash Drive. Then when you wish to look at your Favorites you can simply open the Flash Drive and open a URL from there.

Fantastic. Ok so here's another scenario.

WHat if I want to change the path from my C: drive to my Dropbox (cloud based drive)?

I.e. can I change the path somewhere in the IE config? Registry?!

    Ben.

I have no idea about using drop box as a Favorites location.

Dropbox just uses a local folder, e.g. C:\dropboxSo I wonder if I can change the path for my favorites I explorer browser to other than the defaultI.e. to C:\dropbox\my favorites

As long as it's a local folder, using the method I linked above you should be able to. I have never tried this however. I do have ALL my data on a separate partition, so I know this method works very well. My data survived several OS changes from Vista to Win 7 to Win 8 CP to Win 8 RP to Win 8 Ent. Eval. to Win 8 Pro with no loses at all. The data drive was never touched.

At each new OS installation I did have to use the approved method to once again point to the Data Partition containing my data, but it works great.
