    Need a Full D/L of Microsoft Security Essentials;

    I'm looking for a full download site of Microsoft Security Essentials to install on a friend's XP computer that lives way out but is going to be able to get internet soon.

    Is this D/L possible (i'm just trying to get him off to a good start) or what would you guys suggest ??

    Jag,

    I've never seen that one before. Sounds like a componet of Windows is missing. You might try a non-destructive install of Windows or a System Repair disk.

    That error means you need to install SP3 for XP:

    Note: If you reached this KB article while attempting to install Microsoft Security Essentials, you will need to install Service Pack 3 for Windows XP as Windows XP SP2 is not supported by Microsoft Security Essentials. To install Service Pack 3 for Windows XP, visit the following Microsoft website: Service Pack Center
    Installing the Filter Manager rollup package for Windows XP SP2

    Bruce,

    Thanks for figuring that out. I've fallen into the bad habit of assuming things...like by now everyone using XP has SP-3 installed by now.
