    AVG Update Settings

I decided to give AVG FREE another try and un-installed MSE and installed AVG FREE.

    No problems with AVG install..

    My question is this.

In the Definition Update Scheduling option I am a little confused...

First of all, I can't change the RUN EVERY option...

And I am a little confused about what the RUN AT A SPECIFIC TIME option menas and why it's set to 5 PM and 7 PM..

    SEE attached image..

I read the help file and still have no clue..

I believe that means to run the update between those hours. Personally I have set mine up to Update the definitions each hour.

Newegg runs a lot of specials on the Pro version. I was able to grab a 3 license package for $25, with a $25 mail in rebate, net cost $0.00. That offer is not longer shown, but they still have some great offers.

Ted, I understand that but the RUN EVERY option doesn't allow me to set it or even select it.

Is that option only available on the paid version?

That may be a difference between the free and Pro version.

I know this is obvious but did you uncheck the run at specific time box? I would think that then you could set the "run every" option.
Disclaimer i do not use AVG.

    I can't uncheck that box.

    I tried that already..

I have a feeling that you can't change that setting in the free version...

Thanks Ash, I am aware of them.
It's not that big a deal for me to just right click the icon in the tray and update that way.

I usually buy these free program if I like them but I think 29.95 a year for AVG is kinda high when there are so many alternatives out there.

Newegg often runs discounts on AVG and other S/W.

Sure they do Ted, but then you have to pay 29.95 to renew them every year.
