Windows 8 task bar libraries or flash drive will not open to desktop

Windows 8 task bar libraries or flash drive will not open to desktop
    I was working on a customer's win8 desktop
Put my flash drive in a it shows up in the taskbar but will not open
    Libraries will also not open
Any idea why files from the taskbar will not open?
How is this window 8 better?
So far it is nothing but grief....

I suspect Win 8 was installed on that PC via an Upgrade Install. I have read of many more weird problems with the Upgrade.

The solution if that is the case is a reinstall from created media. If you have a DVD or Flash drive that you burned from the Win 8 ISO download, you can do a Custom Install using the clients key.

You might want to spend some time learning more about Win 8 as you might get many more customers asking for installation and customization help. The sticky threads here are a great place to start.

There have been many discussions about the pros and cons of Win 8. No sense in rehashing all those discussions here.

Did you try using Windows File explorer? Does the flash drive open in a different computer?

Do you get a popup asking what to do with the Flash drive?

What happens when you open File Explorer?

    Can you attach screen shots?

Opposite question, do other flash drives work, or not open either? What about a portable USB drive? Other USB devices? Thinking is if other flash drives don't work, maybe portable drives, maybe not, might be a security or permissions issue (I've had some never encountered before ones with W8 so far) or as Medico says, if its more related to taskbar and library issues and its an upgrade, it may be something deeper than security.

If this is a new PC, it should be returned for warranty work! I guess I assumed it was and Upgrade.
