    Unhappy 02/12/2013 Windows Update

The latest Windows updates were downloaded to my HP Vista Home Premium desktop. Now when working in an Excel spreadsheet, the worksheet closes down as soon as I hit a Ctrl X, Ctrl C, Ctrl V, Edit Cut, Edit Copy or Edit Paste. Has anyone else experienced this with the latest Windows updates?

Never ever have I seen or heard about windows update causing such issue. I would advise you to check for some kind of cheeky vba code that perhaps embedded itself into your excel and is closing the application. Also, do scan your machine with antivirus - just in case.

Is it only Excel that is affected? It sounds like a clipboard issue (which Excel seems to use in a slightly different way to the rest of Office)

There have been a lot of issues with the recent updates particularly in XP relating to KB2778344$. I don't know if this carries over to Vista but a system restore corrects the problem. It may be your solution also. Since the functions you mention are invoked by the Windows API, they could be adversely affected by an update..but I would think it would be more of a global issue.
