Creating Templates in MS Word 2010

    Hi
I can create templates in Word 2010 (running in Windows 8) but I cannot file them in the templates folder. It appears I can only file them in "my documents" but I would like to file them so that clicking on "File" "new" displayed them in the templates folder and at the same time I would like to change the "Blank" template.
Can anyone help - it should be simple and I must be missing something!.

The old versions of Word used to automatically change the directory when you selected the SaveAs file type of dot. This doesn't happen any more but you should still be able to navigate to the same directory just the same.

The default directory for Word templates is
    %appdata%/Microsoft/Templates
