I'm Not Too Happy About This!!

I'm sure any Revo Pro users are familiar with this..

The other day, see attachment, I gto a popup about a new version of Revo Pro un-installer.

As you can see their are two options to purchase the new version but the upper right shows a button to d/l the latest version.
I thought by clicking on that option it would just update my current version but no, it installed a trial version of the new version, completely over wrote my current paid version...

It caused so much havoc I had to restore an image to get out of the mess the installation caused.

While I can blame myself, in this case I am not, because I'm pretty carefull about this stuff...
In my opinion, the offer to upgrade was very misleading...

I don't like these kind of tactics and it shakes my confidence in their products..

    Hi Banyarola
Was it not possible to get the latest version by opening Revo then using the check for updates feature.

You get the same popup when you click on updates.

I just checked this by opening Revo Uninstaller Pro and there is the Pop Up. I have not taken advantage of it. I might just try to contact Revo Uninstaller with this to see what gives. As a Pro user, we have already paid for a license. I am not happy either.

I found this on the Revo Uninstaller support page:

    Registration and Licensing questions

Is the license of Revo Uninstaller Pro a lifetime license?

Purchase of a License includes free lifetime technical support and free updates of the program, till the next major version, i.e. 3.1.1; 3.5.0, 3.9.9 free updates till version 4.0. Major version (like 4.0) will include major improvements and major new features. Depending on its features you can decide to upgrade by purchasing an upgrade license (significant discounts will be applied) or to continue using the purchased version. You can continue using the major version for which you have purchased a license for as long as you want.
I guess we should have checked the fine print when we purchased Revo Uninstaller Pro.

Sure Ted, I figured that part out.

It's just the way they try to trick you into downloading the new version that bothers me..

Personally I will continue using version 2 whatever and forego with a paid version 3 upgrade.

Ted, I now see the pop-up is gone.

Maybe they got so many complaints they pulled it for now until they make it clearer what you are downloading.

It still comes up when you check on Automatic Updates. Like I said I will continue with the version I have. I do not use the other features on Revo Uninstaller anyway.

    It didn't for me...

Like you, I really don't use it that much except for un-installing and sometimes the secure delete...
