    Windows 8 Phone Home?

    Hey Y'all,

I was poking around in the Task Scheduler and found this entry.

I don't remember giving MS permission to do this.

I believe there was a screen where you could opt out of the Windows Experience thing. I do not remember for sure, sorry. Getting older I guess!

    Ted,

I'm usually very careful about that kind of stuff and I don't seem to remember it. Of course, I'm in the same boat as you and bailing fast!

I just checked Task Scheduler on my desktop, and I don't have that WPD folder under the Microsoft folder.
Create a fresh drive image before making system changes, in case you need to start over!

I do have the WPD folder on my desktop systems at home & work. Both are 64-bit Win7 Enterprise.

I think that also snuck in on some Windows 7 installs if you didn't opt out.

Also, meant to say that I opt in to all the Microsoft Customer Experience programs. Microsoft uses the customer experience data as a major point when deciding development directions. They change UI, demote some options, promote others, eliminate some using the data as a justification.

The data that is collected is not personally identifiable.

There is a section in WMP under "privacy" where one can opt out.

But like Joe says, that info is not PID.

Try looking in the Action Center settings and see if it's in there. I don't have access to windows 8 right now.
