    Warning : Lightscribe

I was trying to get the SW to run LightScribe on my device here and got on this link :

    Scribe.jpg

Not nice. It disabled the Restore capability to have the C:\ HD ON, it also got rid of all my Restore points. It stuck me in IE to a Search dialog. I deleted it from the system then had a look at CCleaner, there were 177 files to be removed, all pertaining to this D/L. That programme had more to do with seeing films on the screen and nothing to do with LightScribe, it had taken over my machine.

I am posting this as a warning. I am still looking for a LightScribe app. When I get to the URL, typing LightScribe, it offers a lot of them but it will not connect. Have they also taken over the many sites ? I keep getting a massage that IE can not connect.

I had a LS app before, very recent. After having done a clone-back, it had not been saved and thus, I lost it. Still looking. JP.

The file as received is : iLividSetup.exe.

    Jerry, hello.
The link that you provided is for paper labels to stick onto the disk. I would like to get the LightScribe app. Mucho gracias anyway. Jean.

RG, thanks to you too. I had a look at this URL and it mentions "printing" on disks. Maybe I did not grab the whole explanation. Light my candle. Jean.

No, it says it is The LightScribe system software that uses LitghtScribe to burn lables on LightScribe disks not paper lables.

Both of the posted links are for the same version of the software.

    Jerry, hi.
I succeeded in getting the real McCoy on the HP site and it is working fine. On the URL that you gave me, I read a little more and it specified that you could then glue the label on the CD. To me, it is not a Scribe as we understand it. Maybe my English is not up to it ???
anyhow, I am a happy camper now, if only I could crush the .es.icles of these that hijack a machine as mine was. I wonder if it is my imagination or can they make it so that anytime the word LightScribe was in a URL, it would abort ??? This page can not be displayed ! This is what IE was showing all the time before. Thanks Jerry. Jean.

Binged, Googled...doesn't matter, this has been growing by leaps and bounds. Since it is more difficult than ever to find operating system vulnerabilities, malware writers are looking to get entries into what everybody does, not just a percentage. Without a doubt, the fattest target out there right now is search. If the malware can't get to the users, bring the users to the malware.

Right you are! That's why IMHO everyone should be suing a link scanner. My favorite is Web of Trust (WOT).

Perchance did you mean to type "using"?

Try searching HP's web site. I had lightscribe, and it is for creating CD labels w/o paper on CD's. Are you sure you aren't looking for Silverlight from MSFT?
    Thanks John

JP, you must not be getting to the same page that my link points to. See above. There is no reference to gluing labels on that page. In any event, it looks like you found what you were looking for.
