    Real Player unsafe??

I just downloaded the most recent Real Player, but it won't run as it gives me a message that it was reported as unsafe.

Is it, and how do I fix it whichever it is or is not?

What is reporting that it's unsafe? I use it without any problems but I always keep a close eye on it when it wants to update or when installing 1st time so a bunch of adware doesn't install with it but it seems like all freeware versions come with the provision to be very wary of extra unwanted software these days. RealPlayer used to be loaded with extra crud itself and deservedly got a bad reputation but it seems fairly benign now.

Yup, gave me the error twice. Did it with QuickTime too -- in IE 9. No error in Firefox however.

    ?

are you using Realplayer 16 (version 16.0.0.282), Chuck?
you may want to consider switching back to the previous version (Realplayer 15), as launching realplayer 16 seems to run some background programs like realsched.exe, which is used to perform automatic updates to realplayer. disable auto update for realplayer bigtime when using any version of realplayer.

I'm much better off using RealPlayer 15 instead of using the latest version.
