installing win98 over win95

i want to install win98 over win95, but the win98 is a full not an upgrade version. i remember reading somewhere that it is just a matter of deleting one or two system files and then i can install without getting that message "you need to use the upgrade version to install" or something like that.
can anyone tell me what those files are? or how to bypass the message?

thanks

Re: installing win98 over win95

I can't say i've ever heard of that, and my recent research has turned up the following link to back that up. Just do it! But, I have always preferred burning down the hard-disk first, to remove the junk windows accumulates over the years. (Windows is a packrat.) If you too would like to do this, check out www.bootdisk.com to get a decent bootdisk with a cdrom driver, backup your files, and then format to your heart's content!

Don't take my word for it, check out this site to get the skinny on upgrading your OS!

Hope this helps!
