Restoring 'Documents' (Office 2000 SR-1 Premium)

    Some time ago I came across a "tip" on removing the Documents shortcut from Start, the shortcut that shows the file names of the last several documents. At that time I was concerned about a privacy issue and applied the tip. Now I'd like to restore that shortcut and I haven't been able to locate where I got the tip. Does anyone have any suggestions?

    I came across this tip to remove Documents - presumably it will work in reverse either by removing the key, or changing the value to 0.
    I recommend you backup your registry first!
    [list=1]
Start the Registry Editor

Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER Software Microsoft Windows CurrentVersion Policies Explorer

Right-click an open area in the right pane and select New > DWORD Value

Name it NoRecentDocsMenu

Double-click this entry and add the value 1

Exit Regedit and restart Windows

    Perhaps this will work for you (does for me w/Word 97)

    If you have Tweak, go to Paranoia Tab and uncheck Clear Document history at logon.
    Good luck

    Thanks, Leif. I deleted the key and got the Documents shortcut back.
