Something weird there. My laptop just went through 26 updates in around 15 minutes.

I had I believe 16 updates on both our laptops, and even with the reboot they were done in under 15 minutes as well.

No problem on three PCs. Not sure of the time but 15 minutes seems about right.

    Hey Y'all,

I still can't get the last one to install. It goes on and on until I get frustrated and hit the power button.
It doesn't show up in Windows Update as a failed update either but WU also will not let me install anything else as an install is already in progress. If no one has any ideas I guess it's off to Restore Image land.

See if you can find the standalone version of the problem update and try that. That's what I ended up doing on my sister's Windows 7 netbook when it was stuck on SP1 from Windows update. If that won't work try restoring last month's image if you have one.

    Hey Y'all,

Ok I used system restore to restore to 2 days ago and changed WU to Notify Only.
Now I'll go through them 1 at a time. Will report back.

The number of updates is probably a function of the additional Microsoft software you have installed (Office, Silverlight, Visual Basic, etc.) I had a notice to reboot to finish the install and an Office 2007 update failed. Downloaded it and installed it manually OK. Reran Windows Update and picked up 3 more updates which all installed correctly.

    Hey Y'all,

Ok I installed the OS updates in pairs w/o problem.
When I attempted to install the Office 2010 updates (5) it choked on the last one for One Note KB2760600 32-bit Edition.
I've hidden it since I don't use One Note.

I had one machine, not Win8, where two Office updates (one being the OneNote patch) failed on the initial try. I re-booted the machine as requested. Then the two failed updates installed OK. Guess there is a detection issue or a sequencing problem with the Office updates.
