Importing contacts into outlook.com from Outlook PC client contacts

I have just tried importing my contacts (previously exported from the Outlook PC client (using a .csv file). I get this message:

    Importing contacts

There was a problem importing your contacts.
Your contacts are temporarily unavailable. Please try again later.

    Try importing your contacts again

I have tried this with Outlook 2007 and Outlook 2013 exports.

Am I foolish to think that MS could allow this to work?

Try importing from your .pst file:
    1. Click on the drop down arrow next to Outlook on the task bar and click on People
    2. Click on Imort from File
    3. Click on the Outlook radio button
    4. Click on Choose file
    5. Browse to your .pst file
    6. Click on Import contacts.

    Hi Jerry,

OK, I tried that, but so far it has been running for about 10 minutes. All the screen says is "Importing Contacts". Impossible to know whether it is doing anything or not. I clicked on "People" again and it just says "You Have No Contacts". So, that would appear to not work either. I can import a .CSV file into the Outlook PC client with no problems. We import tab delimited files all the time at work without problems. I would have thought that MS could have managed this OK.
