    Problems using a standard template

    MSO 2010
    Win 7

Background: We have a customised CRM package for a our client and work database. From the database (SQL) we have been generating what we call "scope" documents. These are the capabilities of our clients that have been verified through assessment, they can be up to 50 p[ages long.
We generate these documents using templates we have created out of Word, initially MSO 2003, and now using under MSO 2010.
The XML code used by our CRM developer to generate the scope documents has not changed between versions.

Problem: Having had MSO 2010 installed for 12 months suddenly, occasionally, the process is going haywire. For a few organisations now when we generate the scope we get a document with a few lines of text in what appears to be "wing dings" font!
The problem appears to be quite random as if we generate using another template it works fine.

We have done extensive testing and analysis but cannot find a reason for this behaviour. I was wondering if anyone could possibly shed some light on our problem as it is driving me and our IT guys round the bend!
    cheers

It is going to be difficult to work this out given the lack of information we have.

Is it reproducible for a particular organisation or document? Have you tried creating a new template from scratch? Is the wingdings text formatted using a specific style or is it locally formatted as wingdings? What happens if you select it and press Ctrl-Space and Ctrl-Q?

Apparently this problem has been resolved. Seems the problem was that some scope documents had been generated using MSO 2010, saved as a .docx and then an attempt to read using MSO 2003.
We do have another problem that I will shortly.
    cheers
