    Verifying Microsoft account

I was setting up my Microsoft account and they sent me an email saying "To finish setting up this Microsoft account, we just need to make sure this email address is yours." But when I click the link and then enter my password it says "The Microsoft account is incorrect". I try to reset my password but same thing. I even try to have a one time code set to my phone by text but still nothing. If I try to set up a new account it says my email is not available to use and I assume because I already set it up. I just got this new computer today with Windows 8 and pulling my hair out about this Microsoft account mess!! Help as my daughter is starting college in a couple of months and this is for her!!

    Hi robocop634,

You must use Internet Explorer to access the account after opening IE and delete browsing history on the 'Tools' menu. Then restart IE.

Are you positive you have entered the correct password for the email account you are using? There is a password length limit of 15 characters.

If all else fails you could use a local account.

You could try to contact MS support.

The place where you purchased the PC may be able to help.

You could try a Refresh or Reset. Since you are early in the setup routine there is nothing to loose.

I would suggest you to recheck the password and try IE as suggested by GL and if its not helpful try contacting the MS support.
