    Unhappy lost hard drives

I have Windows 8 and it's not picking up 1 of the 2 hard drives I have on my desktop? When I plug in my ipad or my iphone, it doesn't show what drive they are? I can't find anywhere something that would handle all the functions as the start button did for you?
    Thanks

    S.,

Welcome to the lounge as a new poster!

Sounds like you have an i problem.

As for the start button I highly recommend StartIsBack. Yes it does cost $3.00 but it is well worth the small fee and that is for 2 computers. HTH

Try looking in disk management. Right click on Computer select "Manage" select "Disk management" then look down the list in the lower part of the screen and see if there are drives without letters assigned. You can right click on "Disk n" to look at its properties this should give you the information about whether it is your iPad. Then right click on the right hand side to see if you can assign a drive letter. It may be that the iPad is formatted to a standard that windows does not recognize in which case you are out of luck.

If StartIsBack does not work for you, Start8 is very good (I use this) and Classic Shell is very good (my wife uses this). Any of these 3 should work very well as a replacement Start Menu.
