Gateway laptop keyboard quits accepting input
I have a Gateway laptop whose keyboard will stop accepting key input after about 20 seconds. After I left-click my wireless mouse it will accept input for another 20 sceonds. The cycle keeps repeating. This only started within the last 3 weeks. Sometimes the cursor will jump to a random line in my wordprocessing document. This refusing imput problem extends across all aplications. This also occurs without the wireless mouse plug in palce.
Thanks for any sugestions and help.

Try plugging in and using an external keyboard to see if the problem continues.
Also, run CCleaner to see what loads at startup. It sounds like there is a program loading at startup which is interfering with your keyboard. The mouse interrupts it, and then it starts again.

I hate to state the obvious, but are you certain that your hands/sleeves/jewelry aren't brushing the touch-pad as you type?
Has the touch-pad been knocked, had something dropped on it, or spilled into it lately?
Can you disable the touch-pad entirely? (and just use the external mouse)
Could some other blue-tooth device be interfering?
