    Windows 8 Desktop Icon Sizing

Windows 8 system seems to be stuck at "24" regarding custom sizing options for any of the elements in the drop-down (icon, menu, etc...).

Banged away at this for the better part of the morning to no avail.

Any hit a similar issue and find a way to overcome it?

(Normally, the size selection is a click-able numeric in a drop-down. I only see "24" for all elements.)

    Many thanks.

I assume you tried to right click on the desktop and choose View from the drop down box. This should allow you to change icon size. I suppose if your Screen Resolution is not set correctly this might affect your ability to change icon sizing.

You assume correctly. The desktop dropdown allows only for the selection of small, med, large icons. Normally, by selecting personalize/display, you arrive at a dialog that normally would allow some control over icons, title-bars, menus, etc... This is all there except the only value listed is "24" (point, I assume). Other Win8 workstations allow the values to be changed (on a rather broad basis). (I tried to insert a screenshot, but it wouldn't attach.)

The screen resolution is dead-on, 1920x1080.

    Never encountered this before.

    Thanks.

This should close the book on this issue.

Turns out that the process of getting rid of Segoe in favor of Tahoma (which I've done many times on many Win7 and Win8 systems), may have been the culprit.

After turning back the clock (re-registering Segoe, turning off font-substitution), the sizing controls came back.

    Thanks for your suggestions.
