    How To Process Web-Imported Values

    Hi All,

I import a table that contains values regarding several Rare Earths companies and like to process some values like columns E and F.

I just can't overcome their formats as shown in cell P6 and I am totally stuck here.

Any ideas from the world of Excel-Gurus?

    Best regards,

    Wolfgang

    Hi Wolfgang

The numbers in column [F] in your file are formatted to display as Percentage, with 2 decimals.
They are also manually formatted to show green text (positive values), red text (negative values), black text (zero values).
Note: these are NOT set as 'conditional' formats - they are manually set.

So you can change the formats in column [F] to whatever you wish.
If you are using the values in other cells, for example, in [P6] the result is shown as a decimal value rather than as a percent value.
If you want the value in [P6] to be a percent value, change it's format. Or, you can also multiply it by 100 if you prefer that.

    Hi Wolfgang

..also, click on column [D] to highlight the whole column, then in the top-panel Ribbon, select 'Home', then in the Number group, click the dropdown to select Number format. Do same for other columns.

I have done this for your example file - see attachment

    Hi zeddy,

    thanks for your quick reply.

What I don't understand is the fact that these formats are all imported from the net and I can't change their behavior at all as you may see in cell P6.

Normally you can get rid of strange formats by multiplying the contents by 1 bur here it gives me a value error.

    Best,
    Wolfgang

    Hi Wolfgang

What you need is a macro to set the formats to meet your requirements, after the data has been imported.
This would be very easy to do.

Do you have a VBA macro which does the importing for you????
