    Highlighting cells to create extended cursor

    I would like to use conditional formatting to highlight all the cells in the row and column of the selected cell.
    This is to help me keep things lined up in a large spread sheet.

    Much easier to do this with VBA. Place the code in the Worksheet_SelectionChange event subroutine all the sheets you would like to have this effect. With each selection of a cell, the row and column will highlight in yellow

    Code:
    Private Sub Worksheet_SelectionChange(ByVal Target As Range)
    Application.ScreenUpdating = False
    Cells.Interior.Color = xlNone
    ActiveSheet.Rows(Target.Row).Interior.Color = vbYellow
    ActiveSheet.Columns(Target.Column).Interior.Color = vbYellow
    Application.ScreenUpdating = True
    End Sub
    You can substitute vbYellow in the code with the values below
