How do I get to "My Computer" in Windows 8?

I have Windows 8 and I have not been able to get to Windows 7's equivalent of "My Computer." How do I do this? I need to get to my DVD drive and external drives.

    Thank you.

You can also use Win + E to open File Explorer (Computer is just a way of opening File Explorer).

File explorer and Windows explorer are about the same when accessed from the lower left icon on the taskbar quick launch section in the 8 desktop same as in the 7 desktop. I just checked the Surface RT tablet and the same Icon and Windows/File Explorer is there on that desktop too, and all do the same.

In Windows 7 it is next to the start button and looks like a folder in a desktop folder holder.

On the both desktops, in Windows 8 and Windows RT, it is about the same looking icon and in relatively the same place depending on whether you loaded a start button replacement Program like Classic Shell or not. When I had Classic Shell on my machines it was there too. It was not there in Windows XP and I always had to get it from programs/accessories and create a shortcut to open Windows explorer on my desktop.

If you aren't sure what I am talking about it is the icon on the lower left of this screenshot that is immediately to the right of the big Internet Explorer "E" Icon.

Maybe that is why I do not miss "My computer" or the start button. I always had Control panel pinned to the taskbar along with Word, Outlook, the Snipping tool, Media player, Pandora, CCleaner, and One note.

File Explorer in Win 8 IS Windows Explorer in earlier versions. It has just been renamed.
