    Microsoft tool to mount ISO files

    Microsoft have released a tool to enable users of XP, Vista, & Win7 to mount an ISO file as a virtual CD-ROM drive. Download it from Virtual CD-ROM Control Panel.

    Very useful, so you don't have to load the actual CD/DVD and risk damaging it.

    Also very useful when you have more than one computer all networked together -- you keep one set of ISO files on the network, and use them as needed.

    I saw one from Microsoft a long time ago, so thought I'd take a look and see if this one was any better. Lo and behold, it's the same one! Microsoft's download page says "Date published: 4/23/2013", but if you open the zipfile and look at the files, they're identical to the version published way back in 2001.

    I no longer remember why I didn't like Microsoft's version, but I long ago switched to Slysoft's Virtual Clone Drive to do the same thing.

    now I do not need to install 3rd party software. Now I just have to test if it works.

    I agree. Slysoft's product is very good.
