    Email tracking

When you open an email sent by a user of a commercial service like Constant Contact, the user can see not only that you opened the message but which of the links you clicked. There may also be other information about you that is also returned to the user. Is there a firewall setting or email setting that will prevent any info being returned to the user.

Mail cannot track you if you don't let it.

    1. Turn off sending received / read reports.
    2. Do not click on links in email. The links go via a monitoring service, just like the links in Windows Secrets newsletter, so the sender can judge the effectiveness of their mail-out. Copy the link and paste it into your browser, then edit it before pressing Go.

    cheers, Paul

You can also go into your router and block the tracking site. That may allow you to click on the link and go directly to the desired site without first going to the tracking site.

I've been one-by-one adding the tracking sites to the block list in my router, as an additional layer of protection.
