Poof! Gone with no renewal notice for 20 Gb Google storage for $5

I discovered today that I never got a renewal notice or any other notification from Google regarding an 20 Gb increase in Google storage that I purchased in March of last year for $5. I'm curious if anyone else had this happened. I realized it when I glanced at my current usage which I hadn't paid much attention to.

I suspect the $5 offering went away because Google now charges $2.49/month for 25 Gb of storage but it was rude of them not to at least warn me that my storage was going away or to offer me a chance to change to their current scheme. I'm a long time Google/Gmail user but this sure gives me a bad taste for how they value my continuing support of them.

Sorry, I can not help, but...

Sunshine is still free. You must pay for "The Clouds". (In one way or another.)

I suspect there will be many more of these types of issues to come.

Just curious.... what IS your current GMail storage limit??

I'm sitting at just over 16Gigs... and every 6 months I get another 500Meg...

I've never paid for storage... never paid for anything with Google/Gmail...
I was one of the first 10,000 or so to get an account though... been with them since day one...

    EDIT

I just deleted a Gig of mail and my mail storage limit dropped by a Gig... hmmm...?

A couple of weeks ago now, I could not access any of my email accounts. This went on for over an hour and finally everything came back. In the mean time, I'd practically taken my computer apart looking for the reason.

After my email came back, all by itself, I called my cable company and told them of the problem.
The very nice lady there told me "Google Mail was DOWN!"
"Google Mail was DOWN?" I asked. "Yes, DOWN!" she said. Who would'a thunk it?

If GMail can go DOWN, then is anything safe?

C'mon folks, get your head out of the 'Clouds' and take charge of your data. Eh?
