    javascript:void(0) (5.5)

Howdee, ran into something while visiting Windows Update (critical)- could NOT download ,each time
I went there, put cursor on any blue bar ie download, showed installed ~ Screen would not change
NOR could download a critical update . At Bottom left - displayed java script:void(0) & seems like I used to have in IE under tools "repair IE" - which I no longer find .
Using Win 98 se and IE 5.5 Thanks in Advance Tom E

Howdee from NC - Java Script is enabled for medium zone
I tried to add sites to "trusted" zone ?? twas a no go - I copied/pasted the win update address into the
top bracket - cliked ADD site and got window which said " must have http:// addresses?" which is what I put in there - it kicked me out of "adding" site ? Hmmmmm still, when I ran cursor over the buttons - I got the same ole java script:void(0). I used to go there and NO problem ? Hmm
    what do the Buttons do ?? I have bunch at top now <img src=/S/smile.gif border=0 alt=smile width=15 height=15>
How ya add a site to "trusted" zone ? I even typed the address in - still kicked me out - MUST have http://
    as prefix ?
thanks for the note still can't go to that site no more. Well I can go there, BUT as far as MS lets me in.

Maybe I am too trusting, but I put *.microsoft.com in my trusted sites and it didn't complain at all. Sometimes less is more. <img src=/S/wink.gif border=0 alt=wink width=15 height=15>

    Re: javascript:void(0) (5.5)

Hey, I tried that ?? went to site but got same java script:void(0) - so called my local pc guru, as I had forgotten where Repair IE was ? dumb control panel add / remove BUT it told me I needed vbscript.dll 5.5.0.4801 ver or higher, as I had an old one - could not repair. Tell me something else - everytime I go to this site (lounge) very next day, i get some weird e mail from UNknown person - which always has one of those bad Worms in some attachment - NAV catches it quickly and repairs/deletes it. Never had that trouble til I started coming to the Lounge . What am I doing wrong? thanks te now have to go and find this vbscript.dll file .

Tools | Internet Options | Security tab | Trusted sites | Sites. Uncheck the "Require server verification (https://) for all sites in this zone" box.

I think you should be able to download the vbscript files from the MS site.

    Re: javascript:void(0) (5.5)

Just wanted to know, I could find that vbscript.dll 5.5.0.4801 on MS site, looked and looked, pages came
up blank - finally bright idea - ah ha CNET - scan software and I found the file <img src=/S/smile.gif border=0 alt=smile width=15 height=15> after downloading
2 x clikin - reboot, then I could "repair" IE , nother reboot and finally was able to get to critical down loads. I did do all the the suggestions - you mentioned - to no avail, twas only after I got this newer ver
    file - that it worked <img src=/S/smile.gif border=0 alt=smile width=15 height=15> Thanks much TE

Tom, there is an option to get an e-mail when someone replies to your post. To turn this off globally, go into your controls, e-mail options. You also can switch it on and off under the large text box when you write a message. If this is NOT the message you're talking about, forward or copy/paste a copy to Eileen.

vbscript.dll probably is part of the scripting runtime. To update your scripting components, visit this page:

    <A target="_blank" HREF=http://www.microsoft.com/msdownload/vbscript/scripting.asp>http://www.microsoft.com/msdownload/.../scripting.asp</A>

I don't trust Microsoft the company or Microsoft the software one bit, but since Microsoft's support pages rely so much on scripts and all that other stuff that it is virtually a necessity to "trust" Microsoft. I'm just surprised that Microsoft doesn't install itself as a trusted site by default.... or, as Rod Sterling might have put it "You have now entered the Microsoft Zone" {insert spooky theme music here}. <img src=/S/sarcasm.gif border=0 alt=sarcasm width=15 height=15>
