Hot Swapping via Rosewill tray_AHCI issue

I don't know if I can use the "safe to remove" capability after installing a hard drive in the Rosewill RX-C525 Hot Swap Tray. I just installed this tray and have concerns.

During a research on this issue I find that I have to have "AHCI" drivers installed. I currently don't have the drivers installed for this capability. I open the Device Manager, go to the controllers and find that AHCI is not listed. See Picture.

Per this website I can make the change:

I currently have 5 drives in a San Disk 5 drive enclosure and two drives in the computer (drive C on SATA and drive E on IDE).

I am concerned about losing the IDE capability.

    Any suggestions?

You'd get a better idea about what's what from the BIOS. How many SATA connections are there and is there one or two additional IDE ports and are they used? Also the state of two or more of the SATA controllers will be indicated there (AHCI or IDE or legacy compatible).

You could have a mixed environment of SATA (AHCI) and IDE or IDE legacy so find that out specifically before possibly changing any controller state.
