Help please. BitsDuJour offering a good free deal today on Paragon Backup and Recovery 12 Compact.
Is this something worth looking into or to stay away from?
    Your advice will be appreciated.
    Many thanks.

    Hi Dave,
I have no experience with it ,but can offer a few suggestions about how i would proceed.

    1. Use a tried and true backup program like Macrium Reflect free ...

    2. Use Macrium Reflect to create a full OS backup and recovery disk...store it someplace off your C: drive ...2nd HD or Flash drive ,etc.

    3. Download and install your test program (Paragon Backup) and "giv-er-a-whirl"

    4. You can then compare one against another ..( i have Acronis and Macrium both, and each has some benefits that the other doesn't have)

    5. I have tried out a "Paragon Backup" program in the past ...and i ended up not using it for one reason or another ...Ended up with Acronis 2010 and Macrium Reflect Pro... Regards Fred

I have used Paragon Drive Image in the past, and I believe it to be a keeper.

But I must also admit I regularly use a plethora of software for imaging... each software has pros and cons.

As previously stated, the best way to tell if it works for you is to try it out.

I have a custom DVD full of free imaging software, and regularly resort to various programs 'one-after-another' until what I want works.

Most of these types of programs have 'free trial' versions. Experiment with those first... that's what I got on my DVD!

I certainly agree with Ben. Test them and find the one that's right for you.
I tested EaseUS ToDo Backup, Acronis True Image and Macrium Reflect before deciding.

For me Macrium's time-unlimited free version worked great. I created backup images for multiple machines, but it wasn't til I actually needed to restore one that I recently decided to buy it to support the company.

The Acronis trial ran out before I was done testing it.
With ToDO Backup the screens were just confusing enough that I wasn't 100% sure that I had imaged everything properly.
The Macrium interface seemed easier to use.

    YMMV
