Reinstalling SR2 (Office 2000 sr1)

I am trying to install SR-2 for Office on my machine (we've got the e-mail security problem fixed on the server so it won't break Outlook). The problem is, when I run the patch, it says that SR-2 is already installed on my machine. If I go into Add/Remove programs, my Office Programs are listed as SR-1 (no SR-2 anywhere). My main goal is to apply the latest SR to FrontPage.

I don't know if this is a problem or not, but I have the following Office Apps listed in Add/Remove Programs:

Microsoft FrontPage 2000 SR-1
Microsoft Office 2000 Disc 2
Microsoft Office 2000 SR-1 Professional
Microsoft Office 2000 SR-1 Standard

Any ideas?

Becky

Read names carefully - you're trying to install SP2 (Service Pack 2), not SR2 (Service Release 2 Patch), that's why your Office listed as SR1 with SP2 already installed.
Say thanks to Microsoft for this mess.

And all this time I thought that SP and SR were used interchangeably. Thanks for clearing that up for me.

they are used interchangably by many users since there is never a SR1 and an SP1 or SR2 and SP2. most people who provide support just ignore the wrong letter and answer the question if they know which service pack/release the question is about.

Now back to your question - do you have both 1 and 2 installed or did you ever have #2 installed? if so, you can delete the registry key that lets windows know it's installed. it's a key here

Re: Reinstalling SR2 (Office 2000 sr1)

I don't know for a fact if I ever installed SP2 on my current machine (I ghost my machine several times a year-it's the test machine for everything at my office, so it breaks pretty often). I know I have installed SP2 before, and I was trying to see if it had been installed on my current machine. I went into the registry like you suggested, but I couldn't find the key (or the 904000001E872D116BF00006799C897E directory) you specified. I've attached a screenshot of what I do have.

Thanks for the help,
Becky
