    Missing Icons

I try to help my sister, who lives in another state, through Team viewer. She just started having a problem I've never came across before. When she boots her pc, her icons and task bar are completely missing. This does not happen every time she boots up. Since she doesn't have any icons she can't connect with me on team viewer. I've done a lot of searching about this problem but so far no luck. Any help would be appreciated!

Call your sister by phone and guide her to TeamViewer.exe (Start > Programs) or have her do a search for it if that is easier. Then she should be able to run it and you will be able to connect if there are no other problems

    dannye,
Hello... Try to ( have her) delete the "IconCache.db" and re-boot ...this will rebuild it. Located in the following path

    C: >Users> "PC Name">AppData>Local>IconCache.db

You could also try this from an "elevated command prompt" ( run as administrator ) If you can boot, up or from Safe mode... Input the following command (no quotes space after sfc) "sfc /scannow" ... this will rebuild any corrupted file Regards Fred

Be aware that AppData may be hidden on sister's computer.
