    iastordatasvc hogging memory

This process, present in Windows 8 but I can't finding it running on my Windows 7 machine, is hogging memory - 1.2gB. What does it do, can it be disabled, or is there an update. Another forum suggests I visit the Intel home page and check for updates [it is an Intel rapid storage technology driver], but the update checker can't even find it.

    It's probably this one: https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Sea...tel%C2%AE+RST)

There are other places that state that driver has a memory leak, so maybe try to update yours. At the very least, create a restore point that you can go back to, in case of problems.
