    Post Mail App Problem

Windows 8 wont accept my email account details when I try to activate the Mail App. I have a wireless internet account with BigPond (Australia); however, my PC is linked to my daughter's PC by LAN cable and is logged onto her account (BigPond) land line. Can anybody suggest why I can't activate the Mail App?

    Hi casso,
    WSL.JPG

the mail app is for Outlook.com only. You will need to install WLM 2012 and add your account to it.

Not true. Any IMAP account can be added to the Windows 8 Mail app: How do I add my Outlook.com, Gmail, Yahoo! or other email accounts to Mail?

Thanks folks. Unfortunately my email account is a POP/SMTP account with Telstra BigPond, Australia. The account is set up on Microsoft Outlook 2007. Looks like I'll have to forget about linking it in Windows 8 Mail App.

The Win 8 mail app is NOT compatible with POP accounts. You will have to use a mail client, such as Live Mail on the desktop. Please note that Live Mail is one component of Windows Essentials. You can install it alone or with the other components. For example we installed Windows Live Mail and Photo Gallery/Movie Maker combo, but choose not to install the other components.

TX for all the replies. I have installed the Live Mail components & will go down that track. Although with Outlook on my task bar in the desktop, I wonder if it's really necessary.
    Regards to all,

It probably is not necessary if you always use the Outlook.com web based mail. WLM gives you an option to use a PC based mail client to download your mail to your PC directly. You can then save a copy of the email on your local PC while erasing it from the Outlook.com server.
