    The Venetian Pauper

A old man from Venice wins a dog, a cat, and a mouse in a poker game. On the way home, he must wade through one of the canals to reach his house. However, being weak with age, he could only carry one of the prizes at a time across the water way. He knows that if left alone for an instant, the dog will kill the cat and the cat will eat the mouse and that none of them could make the swim by themselves.

Without any outside help, person or thing, how can he get home with all of his prizes?

    Take the Cat across.

Take the Mouse across, and grab the Cat.

    Take the Dog across.

    Take the Cat across.
